Democrat Lena Saradnik, who suffered a stroke in early November, said in a statement that she is leaving the Legislature after only one year in office to focus more attention on her recovery.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I decided to resign,” she said in the statement.
In an interview with the Star just last month, Saradnik said she had every intention of remaining in the Legislature and running for reelection.
The Legislature convenes next Monday, Jan. 14.
