PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police are investigating the death of a toddler at a residential daycare business as a homicide.

Police Sgt. Trent Crump tells television station KTVK (http://bit.ly/VAUe2e) that there was obvious trauma to the child and officers planned to get a search warrant to enter the home and begin investigating.

Officers and paramedics first responded to the home Tuesday morning after someone called 911. When emergency crews arrived, they took over CPR from 1 of the caregivers.

The child was taken to Maricopa Medical Center where she died.

Police say the child had been dropped off at the home a few months ago and her mother rarely came to visit.

The husband and wife who operate the daycare business are being questioned by investigators. No arrests have been made.
