TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

A young mother who drove into a flooded Tucson wash with her 1-month-old child in the car has entered a diversion plea agreement.

Pima County prosecutors say 18-year-old Tiffany Sherman pleaded guilty Thursday to endangerment. She agreed to meet with officials who'll determine whether she needs to participate in counseling, take classes or perform community service to avoid a criminal conviction.

Sherman also agreed to pay $426 to the county Sheriff's Department for reimbursement of the rescue's cost.

Sherman was arrested on suspicion of child abuse Sept. 6 after she called 911 to say she was stuck in a wash.

The Arizona Daily Star says when authorities arrived, the car was partially submerged and water was inside the vehicle.

Deputies rescued Sherman and the infant and neither was injured.
