THATCHER, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a 3-year-old girl has been found buried in the backyard of a southeastern Arizona home.

State Department of Child Safety spokeswoman Jennifer Bowser-Richards said Friday an investigation of two young brothers left alone in a Thatcher motel led to the discovery.

KGUN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/VTYAJG) a Graham County probation officer found the boys June 26.

The officer had been looking for 23-year-old Joshua Matthew Cisneros, who is dating the boys' mother, 28-year-old Anna Marie Sanchez.

Authorities say the investigation found the boys have a sister who has been missing since March 2012. They are investigating whether the body belongs to her.

Authorities found the remains Wednesday and are awaiting autopsy results. They are treating the case as a homicide.

Cisneros and Sanchez are being jailed on unrelated charges.
