TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Shocking new numbers have been released on how teens are choosing to get high.

One in ten Arizona teens has used synthetic drugs like spice or bath salts.  The trend is expected to explode.

Experts say teens are using these kinds of drugs more because they are easy to get.  The Arizona Justice Commission surveyed Arizona teens and came up with these staggering numbers.

Almost seven percent of eighth graders admit to trying some type of synthetic drug; 11 percent of high school sophomores and nearly 14 percent of seniors admitted to trying them.

Arizona has banned some chemicals in spice, but there are hundreds of chemicals associated with it.  Many experts say the number one reason teens use drugs is boredom.  So parents should be aware and watch for signs of drug use in their teens, as winter break approaches.
