The father of an 11-year-old leukemia patient taken from a Valley hospital last week was stopped and questioned by U.S. Border Patrol agents Saturday night.
Luis Bracamontes, 46, was pulled over at the Arizona border, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos.
Bracamontes was not driving the Ford mini-van last seen leaving Phoenix Children's Hospital Wednesday night, Martos said.
"Luis provided no valuable information regarding Emily or her mother's whereabouts," according to Martos.
CBS 5 News spoke on the phone Monday night with the girl's grandmother and aunt in San Jose, CA. They said they didn't know anything in connection with the case. One of them said, "I can't talk to you right now" and hung up.
Emily was undergoing chemotherapy when her mother, Norma Bracamontes, 35, pulled an IV from a catheter placed in the girl's heart and walked her out of the facility. Doctors said if the catheter is not medically removed, the her heart could potentially become infected, resulting in her death.
Police said Luis Bracamontes denied being involved in removing her from the hospital.
Martos said because police have so little information, they decided to release the parents' last names in hopes their identities might generate some fresh leads.
