Girlfriend Of Father Arrested In Child's Homicide
Authorities say another arrest has been made in the homicide case against Christopher Payne, a man accused of killing his four-year-old daughter. Ariana Payne, formerly a Tucson area Jane Doe, was discovered in a storage locker on February 18, 2007.
Tucson police have also arrested Reina Gonzalez, Payne's live-in girlfriend. Gonzalez now faces one count of child abuse in relation to Ariana's homicide investigation. Payne was arrested on March 1, 2007 on one count of first-degree murder and is currently being in jail on a $1,500,000 bond.
Pima Medical Examiners have ruled Ariana's death a homicide but authorities have not released any more details about how exactly the little girl died.
Police have confirmed that Payne has another son from his first marriage, Ariana's 5-year-old brother, Tyler. He has not been located and authorities believe Tyler may also be a victim of foul play.
Little Girl Lost
Cops in Tucson, Arizona began piecing together a puzzle involving the remains of a little girl discovered in a rented storage locker on February 18, 2007.
Management at the U-Store-It rental facility entered the unit after a foul odor began coming from the space which had been sealed as a result of non-payment. Cops say that the locker had been rented sometime in December of 2006 and had not been paid for since January 1, 2007.
In late February, police told AMW that the remains were fairly well preserved and the body was placed in a plastic tub. Furthermore, initial reports say that the little girl was most likely white, 2-4-years-old, 3 feet tall, and had light brown hair with a reddish tint. However, police are most likely going to give out additional details at a press conference on February 21, 2007. An autopsy is currently being performed in hopes of providing more clues about how the little girl died.
Authorities have not disclosed who rented the unit nor have they stated if there were additional items in the locker.
