TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
A local woman who called 911 to report she strangled her son is facing attempted murder and child abuse charges.
Tucson Police say Jean Cataline, 49, was arrested and faces a charge of attempted 1st degree murder and a felony child abuse charge. She has not yet been booked into jail.
Cataline called 911 after 10 a.m. to say she had strangled her 10-year-old son with a cord.
According to TPD the child was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center for treatment and remains there in critical condition.
Police say Cataline's other child, a 17-year-old boy, has been put in custody of Child Protective Services. According to police, the boys' father recently died.
