PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A northern Arizona judge has granted a permanent injunction to ban all known retailers from selling synthetic drugs in Yavapai County.

County Superior Court Judge Michael Bluff's 12-page ruling declares the drugs that go by the street names of "spice" and "bath salts" to be a public nuisance.

The injunction bans all identified retailers and property landlords named in a lawsuit from possessing, acquiring, selling or transferring the dangerous synthetic drugs.

Efforts to permanently outlaw dangerous synthetic drugs in Yavapai County began last August when the county Attorney's Office obtained an emergency temporary restraining order.

Doctors from the Yavapai Regional Medical Center and the Verde Valley Medical Center say the county's emergency rooms were averaging 20 admissions per week of people under the influence of the drugs.
